  1. Anytime you have to deal with masses of people, it can get stressful.

What about working part-time in a library or as a file clerk/mail clerk in a business office?  Limited people contact and more project focused that multi-tasked.  It's where you do one thing at a time instead of having a lot of things coming at you at the same time.

  2. Hoo-boy!!

Hosting is usually the most stressful job in a busy resta.

You have guests to mollify, you don't want to over-sit any servers, you don't want to bum-rush the kitchen by sitting the whole room at the same time, you can't plz anyone: BOH, FOH, management, guests---everyone is mad at you when the store is slammed!!

If you want low stress in a resta, try being a prep cook.

  3. i worked as a hostess at big boy's. it takes planning and dealing with people. sounds like you'd be better with bussing tables to start out with.

  4. Since you can't really spell.....try babysitting.

  5. Okay...I'm considering you're 16 and this is your first job.

You may not be able to be a hostess at Red Lobster if you are 16 because they serve alcohol.  You'd have to ask your local restaurant what age restrictions they may have.

Any job dealing in customer service will eventually have some pressure.

    People want things...10 minutes ago.

They'll sit down and 30 seconds later, insist that they've been waiting for 5 minutes by the time you walk up to them.

Your boss will want you to upsell...so you'll need to be comfortable with the menu...and offering additional food such as appetizers, desserts, and alcoholic beverages.

You'll be expected to entertain a birthday guest with a song.

These are expectations that are pretty much across the board as a restaurant hostess...

  6. Years ago I worked in the restaurant industry and to get a Hostess position you would need restaurant experience. That isn’t considered a entry level position it that industry.

It’s also HIGH stress and takes a special kind of person to be able to deal with high volume with the general public. If you are looking for low stress job then stay out of restaurants entirely.

I worked for a Red Lobster for over 4 years and then moved on to bigger and better.

Most Red Lobsters and Olive Gardens require at least 3 years Hostess experience.

Red Lobster is considered a “dinner house restaurant” which is stage 2 in restaurant work stage one would be family restaurants like George Web. To get some experience.

  7. well if rushed and alot of people screaming your head off isnt stressfull then this is the job for you. i used to work at the olive garden which are also owned by Darden and us as servers would give h**l to the hostesses about not seating us or triple seating us so yea,... and what about the weekends when theres a high wait and a family of 5 is in your face about whats taking so long? people get crazy when their hungry and been waiting to be seated for an hour and a half... think about that!.....

  8. Everytime we go to Red Lob and its busy the host looks like she is going nuts so i would say its a stressful job
