  1. 1. You can be a permanent resident only if you buy a luxury property at the Pearl.

    2. Yes, Qatar is tax-free. I heard the UAE is planning to introduce a tax system.

    3. You need to be offered a job by a company. That company will need to apply for a work visa for you first. Once granted you will convert your work visa into a residence permit once you have signed the work contract with the employer.

    4. Yes, you will have a medical checkup. I'm not sure what diseases but I know it does include HIV.

    5. General expenses are a vague term, and really vary from person to person. 5 kg of rice cost around QR 56, 330 ml Pepsi can costs QR 1.00, a small flat rent is around QR 6000, an electric t-shirt costs QR 139, an a galon of water costs QR 5.20, and a Kw QR 0.09.
