Work dilemma. Ideas needed. Can you help?

I'm going to be starting a job in a month. The hours are a little jumpy and unfortunately, I'm not sure I will be able to make it in the mornings. My job is on one side of town, I am on the other. The morning shift starts at 7, while the afternoon shift begins at 3. I can't make it in the mornings.. what can I use for an excuse that won't sound ridiculous? (Taking the bus is not an option, I'd have to wake up at like, 5 every morning -- please suggest something else) And what can I say if the employer suggests taking the bus?

I basically need reasons for why I can't come in for morning shifts.

  1. Dude, you crack me up.

You maybe shouldda thought of that BEFORE accepting the job.

Say whatever you want, you'll get fired - trust me.

And if you don't you won't need any excuse.

PS. why would I hire you full time, if you decide you only want to work part time.... use ya head

  2. I believe that you really should have thought about these issues BEFORE you accepted the job. Oh well, what's done is done, is it not? If the job is really important to you, then you must explain to your employer exactly WHY you can't the bus. Do you sleep late at night, and cannot wake up at 5 in the morn for work? If he/she wants you to take the bus, ask him/her if she wants a zombie in the office everyday. Seriously, tell her that you require optimum resting hours and can work only at full potential with enough rest. Hope this helps. If he/she fires you, tell him/her that he/she is a jerk. That is, if he/she does not influence the success/failure of your next job.

  3. Tell them that something has come up since you accepted the job and can no longer work the morning shift.

It's true that they may have to let you go at this point, but maybe not.

  4. Hey dont be silly.I think this is yours first job.It will be alright within a week, dont loose the job bcoz of your laziness.
