Hey,

I'm 14 years old (soon to be 15) and i'm going for work experience at a Day Care tomorrow.

I have opted to be in the area where the kids are aged 0-15 months old.

I'm just wondering what kind of things I will be expected to do, and the appropriate clothing to wear.

Thanks in advance. :)

  1. Casual, something you dont mind getting dirty.

Your going to chasing after children all day, playing games and helping them with activities such as painting.

  2. you will be looking after babies, so wear comfortable clothes and ones you dont mind getting soiled,  joggers,. you will be feeding, changing nappies/clothes, nursing, playing with the littlies and what ever the director/ employer instructs you to do. enjoy, my son's girlfriend is in a childcare centre and she has worked her way up the ladder and loves it

    Enjoy

  3. Definitely wear something that you don't mind getting dirty, because you will more than likely end up getting snot or spew or something equally as nice on you. I would recommend taking a change of clothes as well, just to be on the safe side!

Make sure you wear covered in shoes, e.g. sneakers, as most centres require this as part of OH&S requirements.

Try to make sure your clothes aren't too revealing, as you are going to be bending over alot and there is nothing worse than seeing someones bum poking out of their pants!

In terms of what you will be doing, I would assume you would be playing with the children, maybe helping out with some routines such as feeding, and may be required to help tidy up after the children.  Just let the staff in the room know that you are willing to help with anything, I am sure you will have a great day!
