Work for Tips? What is the largest tip you ever had?

I will tell best answer mine. It's not so much the amount that I am looking for, it is what and why someone tipped you. Not a dollar amount contest......

a husband...my husband was my regular lunch customer for several months...then he asked me out and...that was 14 years ago.

I was working crazy hours during a July 4th weekend, a man who was staying in our hotel on business noticed I was there almost every morning and night.  On the day he left he came in for some eggs and toast before his flight out.  He handed me a 50 dollar bill and started walking out.  I chased after him all the way to the end of the parking lot saying sir you forgot all your change.  His meal was only like 8 dollars.  He turned to me and said...you have been an amazing waitress all week long...this is not change...it's a beginning of something new.  I looked at him all confused and he just got in his car and left.  He was so nice and wonderful.  I ended up quitting and moving on to better things.  Now I am a restaurant manager.  And he was right....it was the beginning of something new...cause I knew I deserved better.

I received a pair of tickets to a baseball playoff game last year.  Really good seats and had a lot of fun.   She was a regular and knew that I was big baseball fan.

Chocolate bars.  No joke.  Some kids and parents came in, and they left a cash tip, but the kids felt like leaving something as well, so they left a mars bar and a snickers bar.
