  1. hey if your friend is experienced and has qualifications in architecture, like you said, im sure he will be able to find a very good job here in Australia, and not as a cleaner etc. Many people who have good skills and qualifications are sure to find a job here.  :-)

  2. Is it really safe a lot of people think we have enough foreigners

working in our country!!! but he'll have to start at the bottom

to work!! like a cleaner to earn money and make his way to the top!! what are his skills if he can work as a kitchen hand so be it! if he can work in construction then so be it!! what ever his skills are he should approach a job that suits that area!!!

  3. I have no idea what Tom T is talking about! He is completely ignorant of what is required to come to Australia to work.

Australian working visas are only available to people 45 years and under with skills, qualifications and experience in occupations where workers are needed in Australia. Required occupations are those listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and on the Migrant Occupations in Demand List (MODL). If an applicants occupation is on the SOL or MODL and they wish to apply for an independent (unsponsored) visa, they must also pass a points test. All applicants must meet health, character  and English language requirements. The MODL is a sub set of the SOL and includes those occupations in the most demand - MODL applicants receive priority processing of their visa applications.

Architect is one of the occupations on the Migrant Occupations In Demand List (MODL). This not only provides priority processing but applicants also receive higher points and are virtually guaranteed of passing the points test without sponsorship.

He should go to the following official Australian immigration pages:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-s... (the MODL)

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-s... (the points test - also includes information on English language requirements)

    http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/characte... (character requirements)

    http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/a-z.htm#p (skills recognition)

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/index.htm (all other inormation relating to immigration)

He should not waste his time or money on employing immigration agents as they are unable to shorten the process in any way. He should lodge his own application using the very easy to use information on the website.

  4. You don't. Simple.

He will either need to get an employer to sponsor him or he can apply for permanent residency. If he is a qualified architect and hasn't been to prison then he should get permanent residency no problem.

UNLESS YOU ARE A CITIZEN OF A 'COMMONWEALTH' COUNTRY WITH A SPECIAL AGREEMENT WITH AUSTRALIA (IE BRITAIN, CANADA, SOUTH AFRICA) THEN YOU CANNOT GET A WORKING VISA FOR AUSTRALIA WITHOUT BEING SPONSORED BY AN EMPLOYER - SIMPLE.

  5. A good way would to start off by getting a working visa and all that and then apply online, heaps of jobs are advertised there.
