Question:

Work in Spain?

I´m looking for work in the north of Spain, at the moment I´m in Bilbao, but I might go to Castilla y Leon. Does anybody have any ideas, other than teaching English? My Spanish is fairly good, I´m thinking of bar work or something like that. It seems impossible to find work here.

  1. If you're thinking of working in a bar, i would suggest the Costa, there is where most tourist go too, so chances of finding a job are bigger . Since you speak spanish you could also try something like a guide on excursions for the tourists or something similar

Good Luck with the job hunting

  2. My step brother works in Spain, he sells p**n for his GirlFriends uncle.

  3. Teaching English is actually the best option as it's well paid. If you don't like it then you will not have any problem finding a job in a bar or as a waiter, specially in the coast line. You can also work as a receptionist in a hotel where they value bilingual people. There should be jobs in call centers as well. Go to an inem office (employment office) and they may find you a job. Castilla y Leon is not the most economically dynamic region of Spain but its unemployment is below Spanish average (which is decreasing). You'll have no problem.

  4. I´m living in Spain too and I agree, other than teaching English there doesn´t seem to be much else to do! Having said that, there´s a lot of telesales work too. Your best option is trying to talk to English people who live there, they usually know. Go to the Pub. Also find out if there´s a paper for English speakers, there probably is, that´s where jobs for English speakers are usually advertised. Good luck!

  5. There is a recession brewing here in Spain, there are not many jobs available full stop, and the spanish always give priority to spanish over all others...unless you are happy being a waiter, I wouldnt bother coming..and then its not very well paid, yiou will need to check that you get a contract, if you get a contract they have to pay your social security but most will not give them, thus making it very dicey indeed
