Question:

Work out twice a day?

OK so.. i have weight training class at my school... im 17 years old.. i lvoe lifting weights.. In the school we work everything from upper body to lower body.... every muscle... and when i come to my house i feel like lifting again and lift again all the muscles... I eat alott.. and keep my body with energy all the time... I wanna be a bodybuilder.... my question is:

Am I damaging my muscles like dat and not getting stronger because of the fact that muscle are already reapairing??

or

muscles dont start reapring until 24 after so i can lfit in the same day twice?

at the school i have that class every other day...so MOn-Wed_Fri....

Dont answer unless you know what you r talking about and dont giveme a link to read something.. causee i already did... duh. tahts y im askin here...

  1. you will not hurt yourself by doing this, however you will not do much help either.  after a certain point your muscles are at a point of fatigue that further work is really just a waste of time... if you are gunna workout again do something different.  for example i will do weights early and later on i do martial arts (muay thai, jui-jitsu and karate) which is an awesome way to train


  2. You are right that you need to let your muscles rest but, I don't think your are damaging yourself by lifting again.  

    Normally I would suggest different muscles than the ones you used earlier (like if you did bicep curls do french press, and if you did abs work on your back)  but, you did say that you work out every muscle in your class.  However, you might want to do it differently than you do in your weight training class.  If you do tons of reps at lower weight in class, I'd try higher wieght and lower reps at home.  If you did fast reps in class try slow controlled ones at home.

  4. Ok so I understand you want to be healthy and like to work out but ya you are damaging your muscles.

    If your going to work out everyday it should be a light work out ( 30 minutes or less)

    For what your doing though you should just stick to Monday, Wednesday, Friday because your body needs more than 24 hours to repair.

    So working out twice a day is just damaging it more and not helping you build muscle, It's just straining your body

Working out twice a day is great.  But what is really important is the volume you are doing.  If these are both long grueling workouts then you are most likely doing too much.  But if the volume isn't too high it could be a good idea.  Just keep eating your *** off and see if your making gains.  If your making gains then its obviously fine. If you start to burn out then tone it down a bit.

    The people who said to work a different muscle are quite wrong.  It is quite a common technique to work the same muscle twice in the day.

  6. Try to do some stretching at home; also some aerobics.  When you have days off from school. do not work out.  Muscles need some rest for growth.

    Always warm up to avoid future damage to knees and shoulders.
