I am planning on travelling and working in ireland for 3-4 months this summer with 2 of my good friends. I really am looking forward to travelling and want to really bad, the only thing that would stop me from doing it is my serious boyfriend of 4 years who would not be able to come at all. The problem is that i have never been away from home or away from him for more than one week and i am very scared that i will miss him way too much and won't be able to enjoy the experience.. i will also worry about not being with him when i come back... we are very close and though we don't live together we see each other every day. I am only 19 and want to experience things but am kind of torn between going there and staying in town and being with him. what would you do? any one who has been through this or who has serious advice... please answer. thanks

  1. Number one, you're 19.  Now is the time to go!  You are also too young to fret over any relationship.

Go, have fun and if'n you get home and your BF is waiting for you (or vise versa) its a good sign to really commit.

By the way...  " They Irish can be very charming. "

Don't I know it (and they are very, um , good.)

  2. Dont know how far from Ireland you live but it is really good to travel when you are young and have no serious ties.  Your boyfriend should not mind you going.  Of course he will be a little worried that maybe you will meet someone else but you can reassure him that you care for him and will miss him too.

It is actually good for your relationship to spend some time apart and to do things in life on your own.  Even if you get together to live or marry you should still retain your own interests.  It will make for a better relationship and you can still enjoy doing things together.

Go, dont worry, if the relationship goes bad because of your trip it was not meant to be.

  3. You're 19 and you've been with the same guy for 4 years? I'd say it's time to move on, pet. You both are changing a lot.

If you meet up again in a few years' time and realise that you still love each other, then maybe you do have a future together, I have known this to happen. But don't miss out now on great things just because you're afraid of losing some guy.

  4. Go to Ireland. You will be homesick for a while but you will get over it, unless you just sit around doing nothing. Go out and enjoy the country. You will be fine. Take pictures of the country and put them on the net. That will keep you busy. Good luck.

  5. Go to Ireland. You will love it = )

  6. You should probably take it as a given that you're going to cheat on him though...

They Irish can be very charming.
