Question:

Work visas in Australia?

by  |  earlier

I have just got back from my holidays down under and while I was there I had an interview and was offered a job.

I am not a builder and do not have a trade, could I still qualify for a permanent work visa, if so how do I go about it.

Any help appreciated.

  1. If you're going for a permanent work, you'll need a skilled visa. It is best if your employer would sponsor you, check out the info on employer sponsored visa here http://www.nationalvisas.com.au/employer...

  2. Your boss would have to sponsor you

  3. not unless the employer is willing to sponsor you, there are alot of conditions he would have to meet. And seeing you are not a skilled worker he would have to advertise the position within Australia first.this visa is usually only for professional skilled workers

  4. You need to get sponsored by your employer. Or marry (or live as married, known as a defacto relationship) an aussie to get two years temporary residency. A spouse visa. Then at the end of two years either jilt each other and move on, or go all smiles together to the DIMIA and show them you are in a "genuine and ongoing" relationship. Then jilt each other. Defuncto ! You need to be under 45 years old. The problem with the employee sponsorship is that you may well find yourself very beholding to the sponsoring employer as they hold the key to you being allowed to stay. Watch your step with the n**i style aussie immigration department and don't take any steps without legal advice, which is very expensive. Also watch out for countless shark immigration agents on the $$$ make who will not succeed your application.

I could guide you right through the whole gig, chapter and verse but not by way of this site. It is just a legal process so get yourself familiar with it and be prepared for a lot of beaurocratic tripe and frustration. I have had residency twice, still have it and they can keep the place for me. A load of hassle to live in a former prison colony?  Beneath the glossy veneer australia is not a great place to live. Stay practical and realistic about it.
