I would like to know the exact time frame an injured worker has to report the injury to their employer and to seek medical attention. I had an injury last year, I reported it to my supervisor and he refused to make a report. I seen a doctor at the hospital and I have kept my employer up to date with my medical condition. I'm having an operation in feb to corrected damage done to my foot to to repetitive movements which caused bursitus and it's very painful. I had another accident two weeks ago, and I hurt my neck and shoulder doing an order at work on a machine. I injured my finger tonight cause a pressure roll fell and trapped my hand in the machine. I can't get a straight answer from anyone and I don't know who to turn to. Is there anyone out there who can give me some advice. I want to know my rights. I know the minister of labour very well, and I don't know how helpful that will be to me, so I need as much info as I can get. Thanks .

  1. First of all, what your boss did by refusing to do a report when an employee gets injured is AGAINST THE LAW!  He could be charged.  He was trying to "protect the company" and his own *** by not reporting this.   Whenever there is an incident at a job, and an employees gets hurt,, the company's WCB premiums will go up, so this is why they don't want to report this . You have 3 days to report to WCB.....BUT you stated that you went to the hospital.  At the hospital when you were giving the admitting desk your personal info, did you state that is was work related?  If you told them this happened at work, they will have a record of it, and your *** is covered with WCB.  Your boss though could have his hide tanned..... he could be in some VERY hot water if this comes out.  Also, you would be very smart to report the things that are going on in this comapny to Occupational Health and Safety.  They will send out an investigator to check all machinery, and working conditions in this company.  If there are unsafe conditions, they will be shutdown until they fix their problems.  Believe me, they will fix them quickly to keep the company afloat.  Before you call OH&S, write down all occurances, and problems within this company, so you have the info in front of you.  Do not let your bosses know you called, because they will find a reason to can you.  Make this call annonomously.  Hope this helps.
