i work 16 hrs, an get help with my rent an council tax,but my boss has asked if i want to do some over time is there a certain amount overtime that i can do that will not effect my rent an council tax if so how many hrs

Each local council can be different so you need to work this out based on your personal circumstances. It's not about how many hours you work, it;'s about what you earn. There are also lots of other factors - age, children, disabiility, single/couple etc. Try this online calculator:
