I'm 18, and i'm a part time employee at my job where i've worked for over a year (in PA)

This week, and in the weeks to come I'm working full time hours, but i'm still considered a part-time employee.

This week for example, I'm working 51 hours.

Will I get paid over-time even though i'm only a part-time employee?

  1. Overtime has to be paid for a work week over 40 hrs.

  2. anything over 40 hours a week is over time if you put in 51 hours you have 11 hours over time if they pay you straight time for it take them to the labor Bord that's against the law and they can be fined big time for it

  3. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), it depends on what line of work you are in. Although the general rule is that all employees who work more than 40 hours per week should be paid overtime at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate, people who work in certain white collar jobs, certain government workers, independent contractors (non-employees), cab drivers, newspaper deliverers, and certain highly compensated employees (as well as a few other exceptions) are exempt from overtime pay. If you do not meet any of these exceptions, then you are generally required to be paid overtime for any hours worked over the standard 40 hours in one week.
