Working Vs Not Working through Pregnancy What did you do?

What did you do?

If you worked, was it part time or full time?

What sort of work did you do?

If you didn't work, was it because of being ill from the pregnancy?

If so how did you not go crazy?!! Did you spend loads of time with other mums and mums to be? Or family?

I would love to not work full time but I am a bit of a social butterfly and although I love a bit of alone time, I crave social interaction and I imagine I would get lonely?

  1. I am 34 weeks pregnant and am due to finish work in week 37.

    I work in childcare.

At the start of my pregnancy i worked 8:30 to 6:00 4 days a week as the team leader of a busy baby room. I only watched my hygiene and was careful not to lift the bigger heavy babies.

As i've got bigger i have slowed of my hours. At 24 weeks i left the baby room as it was too painful to carry the babies all day. I worked with the older children.

I am currently working between 8 and 15 hours a week and my last week is only office work so yeah.

I live far away from my family so i spent my days relaxing, reading and am totally ready for bubs with everything washed etc.

    I do get lonely sometimes.

  2. I haven't worked since my 3rd month. I am a hairdresser and a very social person. I moved in February and it was a little too far to drive. Plus I was getting migraines from perms & color. I'm glad to be off my feet for my pregnancy!! I don't know how people can be pregnant and work standing, maybe I'm just a wimp. But yes it did get lonely at times.I have to remember not to get in my husbands face right away when he gets home from work and to let him unwind. I spent time with my friends and family when they are around during the week. Not to many friends like to call or come around on the weekends which makes me feel like a drag. But that would happen if I were working or not. Now that I am further along its not bad at all. I have a lot to do to prepare for my little one.

  3. When I was pregnant, I worked my heart out, or so to speak. Sure, being pregnant will make you feel more sleepy and tired; especially when your pregnancy is near the end of it's 2nd trimester. Your body will be aching because of the weight you've gained plus your baby's weight. I did office work.

Going through pregnancy is not very difficult as some people would say it is. You just have to have a positive outlook and a good eating habit. The food you eat matters a lot.

Since you are a social butterfly, that is a good thing. It is important for the mother-to-be to have stable emotions. Everything that the pregnant mother do, feel or hear is also felt and heard by the baby.

Plus, working would also help prevent water retention because you will always be moving. Water retention happens because most of pregnant women just sit around or lie down most of the day, which is not advisable.

With regards to a good eating habit; avoid salty food especially those that have monosodium glutamate that can be found in instant noodles, junk food; and sweet food like chocolate, cake and ice cream. Eat plenty of fruits especially banana; it helps prevent muscle cramps. When one is pregnant, they are prone to muscle cramps. Eat plenty of vegetables, avoid oily food. Drink plenty of fluid, preferably water and juice; avoid soft drinks. It helps a lot to have a healthy pregnancy and can avoid complications.

Hope I was able to help you in your query.
