Question:

Working around constant exhaust fumes

I work as an office manager at an auto repair shop. My door opens to the auto bay. Automobiles and comercial lawnmowers come in throughout the day for inspections or minor repairs. They usually have to be running for a bit inside the building. Here is my problem. The shop is not ventilated and my door is not insulated enough to keep out fumes. The bay doors are always shut immediately to keep in heat/air. Exactly how harmful is this to my health? The cars sometimes run for 5 minutes or so and the lawnmowers (which are way worse) usually run for a couple of minutes. My husband is very upset about the whole no ventilation thing...

  1. are you getting headaches feeling sick at any time?

  2. Try propping open your office door, and put a box fan on,facing the shop.it might seem stupid to open your door wide open ,but the fan should blow the fumes away, and suck the fumes out at the same time...

  3. call osha on you boss, thats a violation, they need to have proper ventalation.
