Anyone here aged 16 or knows the about the amount of pay for working at Debenhams when you are 16? Ive recently just got a job there but haven't been told what I will get paid yet.

Also, at Debenhams do you have to be 16 and a half to work there? Because i cant start yet because I was 16 in april this year...

Please help if you are 16 and work at debenhams or you know the age you have to be!?

  1. There is a national minimum wage that all employers must legally pay their employees. It is a higher amount when you reach age 18. There is Age Discrimination law that prevents employers refusing to employ people base solely on their age. I'd check again with Debenhams - get in touch with the HR people who arranged your interview and ask why there is a delay - it may be to do with the date that you are entitled to leave school and that is based on when you are 16. Check the website below for amounts that you should be paid per hour.
