  1. It sucks!!

I worked there about 10 years ago & it was h**l. People owe $2,000-$4,000+ and scream and yell at you. It was horrible & ruined me as a person, I tried so hard to find work elsewhere, I just couldn't. Finally, I found a lesser paying job & took it.

Having said that, it depends on your needs, if you need the pay, or the benefits and have worked in customer service, then go for it. However I was jut out of college, and had no idea what to expect. It's really bizarre because you'd think it's cut & dry, pay your bill or get shut off, but it isn't. Every day you have people cursing & yelling at you, meanwhile they haven't paid a bill in 7 months & have only made 6 relatively small payments in the last 3 years. A few other annoying things, people complaining about high bills, meanwhile you know they use AC 24/7 (One time we sent a tech out due to a high bill complaint & they had a swimming pool in the backyard??  Duhhhh). And third was people moving into their house or apartment and not calling until they got there. It would then take 2-3 days to get a tech over to turn it on, which they'd complain about.

Really frustrating honestly, but do what yiou need to do. It pays pretty well, especially if you stay a long time. I never took it serious enough to care. One girl I knew left & went to a health insurance company, she came back within a few weeks because it was even worse there, so everythings relative. They monitored our calls alot & I never liked dealing with irrational people on the phone. I'd get mad at people who got mad at Peco for shutting them off when they owed $7,000.
