  3. stressful....its very demanding, learning how to take information that could result in how fast you react to the proper decision...but they'll train you

  4. It is very demanding and you have alot of responsibility.  A job to def. take seriously!  Good luck.

  5. Jess, it is a very stressful profession.  But it can also be very rewarding.

I would suggest you request to do a sit-a-long with the center you applied for a few hours during a busy period so you can observe what it is like to be in that work environment.  This will help you decide if this is something you CAN and WANT to do.

The schedule or hours worked is usually what bothers a potential new hire the most.  Realize that you will work weekends, holidays, etc...

    Good Luck!

A 911 call center consists primarily of a room staffed by emergency personnel- firefighters and police officers. Each worker wears a headset to listen to incoming 911 telephone calls. In front of the worker is a bank of computer screens. One screen displays any information on file with the local telephone company about the incoming 911 caller number, such as the address to which the telephone is assigned. Another screen contains a map on which any address can be quickly pinpointed. The screen between those two screens is the one on which the worker types the incoming information about the emergency call for transmittal to the call responders. Photo #2 shows a 911 call center employee logging in a 911 call.

  14. You have to deal with emergencies everyday and some might even be joke calls

  15. I am hoping that you love people or are a adult because it is really important that you make sure that you want to help people whenever it is needed.  if someone is losing a grandma because she isn't breathing and you need the information, and telling the people to go in the ambulance and help the people from dying.  it si a hard job.
