Question:

Working at a bank with an accounting degree?

I am going to be graduating soon and I'm looking to get back into the banking field. I have previous teller experience and I currently work as a pricing analyst. What positions should I apply for with a degree in accounting other than a teller (been there done that). Do personal bankers get paid more with a degree and experience? If so what's the salary if I were to apply at Citibank, Chase, or WAMU? I'm looking to make atleast 45,000 a year. Thanks.

  1. An accounting degree isn't the ticket to a higher salary, if you want a higher salary, work and prove yourself first. The degree may or may not help you, relevant experience still counts a lot. Look at advertisements offered by banks and check out what requirements they look for. Try to meet those requirements if you want to get a chance into the interview room.
