  2. look on your local council website - the show all the vacancies for things like that! You'll probably need qualifications to be a classroom assistant but you can volunteer for a while and go to college. Schools are always looking for volunteers. You'll need to get crb checked first tho.

  3. I agree with the comment that there is quite a few people competing for these classroom aide/parapro jobs.  But you can try.  In our state, the required education/qualifications for parapros is getting stiffer so you'll need to contact your local school district for this information.  Like the other individual, I'm not sure about kitchen help... If you have a degree you could consider substitute teaching.  You have to have so many credit hours but if I remember correctly...it doesn't necessarily need to be an education degree.  Sad, but true.

Preschool:  to be an aide...most of the time you just need a high school diploma.  To be a teacher you will have to have a minimum of a CDA- associate's in child development.  This is for "private" preschools.  If there is a preschool in your school it is most likely state/federally funded and qualifications for teacher/associate teacher is higher. You may be able to get an aide position.

You could consider opening a child care out of your home.  You will have to take some courses each year to meet state training requirements...but depending on your state... to get started you only need your first aide/cpr certification and such.

    Good luck!

  4. check out the local college and see if they offer any cousres

there is also some web sites offering on line courses.

Maybe ask at your local primary school about what the job involves and any traing they would advise

  5. Hi,

    I'm a Primary School Teacher.

Unfortunately there is a LOT of competition for Class Room Assistants because of the child-friendly hours.  Most schools these days will look for NVQ qualifications and experience.

You might need to consider getting experience in school as a volunteer to start with and to look at a college course related to working with children.

I don't know anything about the kitchen side of things as my LEA doesn't do school meals.

  6. Grace's answer is what i would say, but also keep an eye on the local papers for nursery cook jobs and perhaps contact some nuresries directly, they are always on the look out so worth the try.

  7. Pre-school-you can volunteer without having a qualification but to be a paid worker you'll need either NVQ2 or be willing to train on the job...even that doesnt guarantee pay straight away.

Teaching assisant: Again if you go in voluntary you wont need qualifications-if you want paying you'll need to go on the training the school require----usually an NVQ pr eqivalant.

To work in kitchen of a primary school is usually dealt with through the LEA rather than the school but no harm going in to chat to someone.

However word of warning-if you do work in a preschool its not an easy 9-5 job-there's paper work, planning, staff meetings etc etc...esp if you get a paid position as a key person or something! But it is very enjoyable.
