Working for a fashion magazine like Vogue or Bazaar?

I am currently in college majoring in English and minoring in Journalism. I have an fairly strong background in art, having taken many classes (I was a visual arts major before I switched to English). What should I do if I want to work for a fashion magazine when I graduate from college? How would I go about that? What do they look for? I'm interested in everything from writing to page design to photography.

  1. Join your colleges newspaper and/or magazine. You need to build a portofolio. Working with the college's publications you will become familiar with what it takes to put a publication "to bed". Also  you could compete and attend  the journalism conventions per state per college to help you broaden your journalism knowledge, network, etc.

  2. intern! intern! intern!
