  1. i live in canada and winter can start in early november and end in march or april. this year it started in mid november and went till almost the beginning of may!

  2. tradesmen don't do much in the winter. Most take their unemployment checks and live off of that.  With the unpredictable weather in the winter it's very hard to find a lot of work available.

  3. It may take several years to get permission to live and work in Canada. Check here:

  4. You could work the winter months in Vancouver BC, say October to May.  Construction workers are in great demand here right now as we ready for the 2010 Olympics, and construction goes on year-round here, unlike other Canadian cities that pretty much shutdown construction for the winter months.  There are tons of outdoor activities to do here because of the ocean and the mountains.  NHL hockey, sportfishing, boating.  Then if you want to see more of Canada, you could start going East, work on the huge highway/bridge reconstruction project at Golden BC and then spend time in Alberta.  Work in Calgary til first week of July so you can enjoy the Calgary Stampede.  Then you can keep going East.  Many major centres en route that you could find work.  End up in the Maritimes and you will have had a fabulous tour of Canada.
