Working in canada using h1b visa?

I am on H1B visa and working in USA.

I have got a job in canada and planning to relocate to canada.

I like to work in canada only for a year and my family is in USA.

I have to retain my H1B visa and planning to apply for new canada visa.

I have 6 years experience in SAP software field.

Please help me....your valuable suggestions please...

  1. You will have to apply for a Canadian visa.  However, I suspect that will invalidate your US visa.  But that is a US Immigration question.

    You may also have issues with Canada, since I know at one time they required visa applications only from the country of origin (i.e in your case not from the US).  But Canada Immigration can inform you of that.


  2. You must apply for a legal work permit in Canada as does the employer. Canada is much more strict on this, and you being on a US visa should have actually prevented you from possibyy then getting a visa in Canada It is a new rule that went into affect recently.

    Once you leave to work in Canada your us work permit visa is no longer valid as you   got that hb1 visa for a us job that you no longer have.
