I never feel the biting but am covered the next day but most of the bites are under my clothing. Very painful, red, and itch. What could be biting me and how to stop it. I'm sure there is some sort of bug in the grass because I sit on the grass to weed my landscaping. Help.

  1. I agree with the "Chigger" theory, that's what it sounds like you have.  Growing up, we would use clear nail polish on the bites to suffocate them (cause they burrow). Here is some info I found:

"Wash the affected area thoroughly with hot soapy water. Because the chigger is attached to the skin by biting into it, this simple method will remove it.

Treat the area with an antiseptic ointment to prevent infection, and an antihistamine or topical hydrocortisone cream will relieve the itching. Alternatively, Helichrysum oil stops itching within a few minutes. Its effectiveness will fade after a few hours so will need to be dabbed on again. It has the advantage of being quite healthful and helps heal bites quickly.

Watch the area for infection, and avoid scratching. With young children, it may be necessary to trim their fingernails closely to keep them from breaking the skin trying to relieve the itch.

If this does not work, put either clear nail polish or Vaseline on the chigger bites. If the chiggers have burrowed beneath your skin, this will suffocate them. "

  2. Try witch hazel. Its sold everywhere and, if what you have is what I think you have, You will notice results near immediately. Get a washcloth and moisten it with the witch hazel and rub it over the bites. I like to cool the witch hazel in the refrigerated as this makes it feel all the better. Aloe, pulp fresh from the plant or bought as an extract will probably also be soothing. Witch hazel also has an extraordinary ability to reduce pimple redness and make them dissapear within hours(depending on severity.) When I start to get any rash or outbreak I use it. Even on poison Ivy. Seems to dry it up very well.

  3. It honestly could be ants. Also my boyfriend gets a red rash when he is playing soccer on grass all day. To prevent it spray yourself with off, the new one that has corn starch in it. It works the best!

  4. maybe you're allergic to grass? or maybe something else in your yard. When I get bug bites I use Estee Lauder Advanced Night repair on the bites after exfoliating my skin and it works wonders.

  5. could be chiggers . try some caladryl lotion, it will stop the itching and burning. good luck!

  6. Taking Benadryl (antihistamine) before bed will also help lessen the itch and help you sleep.

  7. apply some hydrocortisone cream to lessen the itch and swelling..

  8. maybe fleas or ants.
