  1. More information please, especially what area you're hoping to work in.

If you're looking to work in entertainment, that is a GREAT jumping off point for a career in theatre or dance, technical or performing.  Pay isn't fantastic, but I believe your room and board are covered and you do make enough to scrape by for a little while once your job is done.

  2. Here is a good website to check out.

    http://www.cruiseshipjob.net

Most employees on a ship work 10 hour shifts, six days a week. Sometimes 7 days.

    Good Luck

  3. my son worked as a chef for the d c line

he says it was the best time ever

    he saw some fab beaches

he worked very hard and sometines never saw day light

worked with people from all over the world

and also says .........he was sick of cutting up melons !!!!!!!

    also we r from the u.k ...........

he says the amercians eat too much...............and want everything yesterday..........

he says he enjoyed his work but would not go back as the pay was very poor..............

  4. Based on the cruise I went on, the pay isn't good and it's long hard hours. Everyone they had working there had a foreign accent. The majority of the workers were from the Caribbean, and the majority of the higher ups (cruise director) had British accents. The captain was Norwegian.

If you are an American, you can probably find much better pay and working conditions than on a cruise ship.

Now, if you are a dancer or a performer - then you can do okay. I had a friend who was a dancer and she went and danced on a cruise ship for a while and she seemed to enjoy it. I didn't ask her about the pay or conditions though.

  5. Also, most menial tasks are performed by foreign workers that are less than upstanding citizens. Its not all fun.

  6. Cruise employees onboard ship normally share a cabin at the bottom of the boat with two other people, they work about 70-80hrs a week, have few hours off in a MONTH, and this info is found on several cruiseline websites under employment or career sections. Why not try looking there? :)

  7. What do you want to do on it?

pay is OK but the work is hard.

I talked to a guy on Saturday in Mexico. He worked on a ship as a waiter. He could make $1000 a week in tips (they tip at the end and you have the same waiter all week).  That is like 2 months salary where he is now. You would be competing with people from all over the world that want the job a lot more than you. Plus they NEED the job to feed their whole family.

  8. Depends on the job you want to do.  Generally the hours are very long, and the pay is pretty good.  You'll save alot of cash, because you don't have time to spend much, and your room and food is taken care of.  Bartender is a good job to have.
