Question:

Working out never really worked out?

About four years ago, when I was about 14, I started working out at the gym. I did about 10-20 minutes of cardio and a stringent weight workout, alternating three days between chest & triceps, back and biceps, shoulders and legs with abdominal workout every day. The first two months, I gained about 10 pounds in muscle mass and steadily raised the weight levels. After that, even though I kept raising the weights, I didn't really notice much change in my body. At one point I even started drinking protein shakes, but still I noticed no change in my muscle mass and weight. After three years, I stopped working out and I lost 10 pounds (presumably the 10 pounds I gained back then). My goal is to have the body of a s**y Calvin Klein underwear model. Why was I not able to reach my goal? Is it because my body doesn't have the genetic or hormonal capability to do so? Was it because I was too young back then? (I'm 18 now, is this an ideal age?)

  1. I would go back to the gym and get a trainer. The trainer will be able to tell you how to get what you want out of your workouts. Unfortunately the cardio needs to be part of the package as it helps to develop the muscles. Try to find something cardio you don't mind doing - Like biking or stairclimbing.

  2. ok i just called my doctor and asked. ( im 14)

he said if i started weights at this age it would s***w up my body

but he says that cardio and push ups, etc are fine for when ur 14, u should only start weights when puberty ends COMPLETLY  ( like 16 or 17)

  3. Doing weight at too early age, could ruin the places of your muscles, and thus it disable the ability for your muscle to relocate. And then, followed by the protein shake, make your muscles fibres harden and thus, it makes it even harder to relocate.

And also, you need to pay attention on the exercise that you're doing. Remember that your muscles need to breathe as well. If they can't breathe, the muscles will harden and it will make it harder to grow.

  4. maybe it could be you didn't go enough...did you go about 1-2 times a week or 3-4 times a week?? that could be it or maybe you weren't that intense when u were lifting and stuff...who knows...but you have a real cute face you wouldn't even need to have a super incredible body..  :)

  5. You gotta confuse the muscles. Always doing the same weightlifting program for a certain period of time your body gets used to it and your results will be halted.  Diversify your workouts. Crosstraining is a great workout for example, you do different sets non stop  without taking a break and fatigue the muscles.  Try finding a trainer that actually knows what hes doing and maybe discuss with him on how to crosstrain and about muscle confustion so your muscles don't know what's coming at them and that way you will see results.  But patience is the key.
