my Gf and I are planning on moving in together soon, she is disabled and doesnt work... until now she was on income support. Problem is, I work and am under 25... She has a son and is over 25... would i be able to claim on behalf of the family knowing that the son isnt biologically mine and his mother doesnt work??? Also the father of the child might be the one claiming child tax credit and he wont be with us all of the time.. We live in the UK

  1. Ring them and they can give you an estimation,which they will do easily for you, just make sure you have all your figures written down first including : weekly / monthly earnings

                                        your partners income details

                                        any maintence  you may recieve

                                       last years yearly income

    They will quickly help you work these out if you dont have the them to hand  thow.

    Make sure you enquire about all benefits you are intitled to for yourself , partner, and child. As they dont inform you of half of them{ as a few of my friends have found out after six yrs of not  recieving them}

    Also it may seem like you wont get much but Housing benefit , council tax benefit may make up for this, as it alters with different situations .

    You can get an estimation on line now if you go onto tax credits web page..

    Good luck

  2. Ring them and ask they are quite helpful.  I now owe them money because I stopped working for a while but now that Ive started again must contact them.

  3. Here in the States it would depend on the number of days everyone lived together. Better call and officially ask on this?
