My actual question is if you work for a government agency such as the D.E.A. or another agency that does undercover work in the areas the D.E.A. does do they often change the agents own criminal history to appear as bad too in case others check. Im asking due to a pending engagement. Not for criminal purposes.

  1. For deep cover assignments, an identity would be cooked, complete with criminal history.  The true identity of the agent would not be tampered with as it is buried for the safety of the agent.

  2. My suggestion would be contacting DEA to answer this question here!

  3. Yes and after your cover is blown they will put you in a witness program under another identity.

  4. A pending engagement? Like you're about to become engaged to someone who's feeding you this tale about their criminal history being so bad because the D.E.A. made it look bad when they worked there undercover?

If the above is what you're being told, it's a complete lie. Run. Run. Run. The only involvement the D.E.A. might have had in that criminal history is arresting the rat for drugs. D.E.A. agents are career civil service employees. Some work undercover and may be provided with false papers, but when they're home, they're like everyone else, and there's no secret about who they work for, I mean, the neighbors know. It's possible the guy got caught and turned and did some C.I. work for D.E.A., but he would have been just another doper they hooked up and made turn a few deals to get some breaks. And they would have to mess with his criminal history, since his history and associations were plenty bad enough.

So, if your intended has a nasty criminal history, they earned it all by themselves. So, go out to the bars and find a nice C.I.A. agent who needs you to pretend to be his wife for the weekend because he's being hunted by those terrible ex-KGB Russian mafia guys. Fake C.I.A. guys generally spring for better class stuff than fake D.E.A. guys.

  5. I wouldnt bet my life on this but I would bet a years income that Retro is on the money about this person. I've actually watched guys try to pull off this kind of act and they all looked like Clark Griswold trying to make time with Chrstie Brinkley in Lampoons Family Vacation with the same lines.

If he is a real cop, his attempts at standing taller are pretty lame. He didnt happen to ask what you sign was also?
