http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/462/eligibility.htm accordingto this, it says you can apply for a working visa in australia if your from the us, chile, turkey, and thailand.

Im from canada. Does that mean there is NO way i can get a work visa for australia? and if there is a way, how would i go about doing that?

  1. there are 2 sections to that web page,as you will see you are able to apply, use my link

    Working Holiday visa (subclass 417)

For people from Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and United Kingdom.

Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462)

For applicants from Chile, Thailand, Turkey and the USA to holiday and work in Australia.

  2. You're actually fortunate in being from Canada. The Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) is the one for Canadians and is way better than the one you've been aware of (subclass 462).

The subclass 417 visa is for an initial 12 months, but provided you do seasonal work in a regional area for a total of 3 months during your first WH visa, you can apply for a second 12 month WH visa. No extension or second visa is available under any circumstances on a 462.

  3. The wording does suggest that this visa is only available to people from a country that has a Work and Holiday arrangement with Australia, and presumably that's the four countries listed.

Suggest you contact the Australian High Commission in Canada and ask them what the situation is for Canadian passport holders.
