  1. Call a disability attorney ASAP.  Don't sign anything until you have your own representation.

  2. As the first poster says, when you accept a WC settlement you are giving up any right to future claims.  So consider that.

  3. Well this is a question with a lot of missing info.  Need to know the injury, how long you've been off work, are you working now or are you working? Are you a VR candidate?  Has this claim been accepted or denied?

There are major holes in this question...

While you are looking for a price for your settlement.  Ask yourself these questions

    -Am I currently working?

-How much will the PPD/PPI I be getting? Will I get one?

-is my injury bad enough that it might imped me from finding work else where?

Now...the above people are right and wrong.  Some states have rules regarding this.  IF your claim was accepted ask your attorney (if you have one) that if you sign for the settle the claim will you still have your medical rights or will they end when you sign the paper?  Remember work comp isn't like liability auto insurance...but again some states are different.

If your still not sure offer an amount of $80,000.  When you ask for this than your adjuster may counter with something lower to bring you back to earth, say $20,000 than you have an idea of what you want to settle for.  If you offer like $1 million dollars, you'll probably won't get any where.

  4. Never EVER sign off on a workman's comp settlement you never know how the injury will effect year later in life. And you will always be able to go back to workmans comp and claim on it.
