Hi, I have workmen in my house installing gas central heating. When they walked in I offered them a drink and something to eat which they took th drink and not anything to eat. I have just taken them another cup of coffee and a couple of biscuits each, to which one of them replied "have you emptied the cupboard" and laughed. What should I do? Take them more or offer them something else or leave it? What would you do if you were in my situation? I feel daft now and should have taken the 2 packs of biscuits up

  1. when you go to work yourself do take packed lunch,or buy something when you can?this applies to the workers as well, let them provide for themselves.by catering for them it wont reduce their bill, but will cost you more in the long run.

  2. I would not give them anything since all you are doing is makeing the job last longer and they charge by the hour.

  3. It's very nice of you to offer them food and drink and I'm sure they appreciated it.  These guys know where they are going to be working and usually take food and drinks with them to the jobsite or leave at lunch to get something.  Let them do their thing and you do yours.  As they're leaving would be a good time to offer them a drink or snack if you want.

  4. As I'm a tradesman  that works in other peoples house's I am well appreciative of a nice cuppa now and again so I always look after anyone working in my house. These two guys are just taking the p-ss had they said that to me they would have been wearing the tea & biscuits

  5. Let them drink and eat as much as they want, and when the final invoice comes, deduct it off the total.

    They're taking liberties.

  6. Tell them there's another biscuit waiting for them, but only when they've finished the job to your satisfaction! (with a wry smile too).

Most polite people would have simply thanked you kindly for the biscuit. He's just joshing with you.  Josh 'em back, the cheeky monkey! By rights, he deserves a clip round the ear for such temerity!

    Best of luck.

  7. Are you serious?

Did you sign a contract saying that you must provide them with constant food? No? Well?

  8. WHAT!! How ungrateful - wouldnt bother giving them anything else to eat OR drink.

I would also stand in their full view eating loads of biscuits & yummy things.

  9. If they are eating and drinking they are not working, but you are still paying their wages.

They are workmen not guests, let them get on with it or they will be there all night.

  10. go hide in the other room

    ur embarrassment will wear off

u r not obligated to give them treats and if they mocked u or make a joke that hurt ur feelings then shame on them.

they dont deserve ur treats anyways!

  11. Id just leave it now, that is more than enough for them!!! There was no need for him to come out with that sarcastic remark after you've treat them well.
