I am on a swim team and i want to be good but i'm not. I'm in average shape and i've been swimming for like 3 years but it's always the same. I was wondering if there are any special workouts i could do or if there were any specific areas i should work out.

  1. it's really hard to answer this because we would need to know your times for say the 500free or the 100fly

What i do when I want to improve, is I work with people who are better than me. So during practices if you can get in a faster lane, it will push you to go harder.

You may also want to ask a coach about your technique. You may be doing something without even knowing that is creating a lot of drag. I know a year ago I realized I was not nearly reaching forward as far as I could, and when I changed that, it did wonders for my times.

  2. Push yourself.  Take the interval you normally use and decrease it by five seconds.  You could also increase your practice lengths or your yardage.
