  1. Here's my usual routine.

Wake up, drink a smoothie and eat a zonebar.

    Stretching.

Start off by warming up on the tredmile for about half an hour.

Two sets of twenty push ups, and two sets of twenty crunches.

    Jump roping.

Running three miles outside, (including hills).

Serving the ball against my garage door, then setting, bumping, or pancaking it depending on how high it hits off.

Work on each individual skill for about twenty minutes.

After that I usually do each in this order.

    Bump, set, spike.

The key is getting into shape and staying in shape.

You can forget about eating sweets.

  2. Add jumping in the pool to the answer of Sabria C.  Get about chest deep, crouch down and then jump.  The water will act as resistance and will cushion your landing.  Your ankles and knees will appreciate it.

  3. here are a few things tooo doo

Warm-up: Jog 20 min. Try to increase your distance each time you run.

Stretch: Be sure to stretch before and after every workout.

Sit- ups:     3 sets of 50

Push ups:   3 sets of 15

Jumping: Try to find a good surface for jumping. Wood floors or grassy areas are your best options.

    ·     Spike Approaches- 2 sets of 40

    ·     Block Jumps- 2 sets of 40 (practice with your hands in blocking position)

    ·     Tuck Jumps – 3 sets of 10 (Pull your knees to your chest )

Sprints: Find a grassy area or track

    ·     50 yards- Goal 3 sets of 10

    Cool Down: Jog and Stretch

best of luck. my wishes to ya.!!

  4. Conditioning:  Jumping rope, sprints, push-ups, sit-ups, tuck-jumps, and running/jumping rope in the sand, conditioning bands on the arms

Skill:  Pass a ball into a garbage can/laundry basket, hit a ball against a wall (spike the ball to the ground, allow it to bounce up, off the wall, and back to you in the air, and hit it again. . .), serving (serve the ball, run and get it, serve it the other way, and repeat)

Mental:  READ books - there are a lot of good volleyball books that have great ideas on conditioning, techniques, and explaining plays and formations.  Karch Kilray has one out that he wrote a few years ago that is wonderful.  I adapted my passing game from reading that book - Karch is a phenominal passer/serve receiver.  I figured it couldn't hurt to get a tip or two from him. . .

Basically, you will get out of it what you put into it.  Find out about camps around the area.  They have them, even for beginning players, or players going into high school.  It is a great way to work with others, get input from a wide range of people with different strengths, and get your name and face out there (if you plan on getting the scholarship to college with volleyball).  Camps are great - they can get spendy, but at least one per summer is a great thing for anyone.

    Good luck!!!

  5. as a former coach and strenght and conditioning coach.    you should first access your current fitness level.   then plan your training program to achieve your goal(s).    questions for you:   what is your goal?  just to get in better shape for the vb season? or to make the Varsity team?    if it is to make the Varsity team, you are looking at a lot more than just getting into shape, however, being in good physical shape is never a bad idea.

anyway, there's too much variables.  please provide more details to your goals and present fitness level.    i'd be happy to help.

  6. Start off with 2 sets of 20 sit-ups. Two sets of 20 push-ups.Wall Jumps @ least 30.If you have a pool use it,start off by running in the pool(in place). To top it all off eat healthy.
