Friend

I’m here as you age

As you walk into older

I offer my strength

I’m beside your shoulder

I bring you water

I sing to your dreams

I’ll tell your story

You return to the streams

I’ll then wash your body

And fold you to sleep

Bring you finally home

To eternal keep.

  1. Too many image filled lines to reference just one. I pictured so many things, and people whilst reading. My best friend passed away three years ago, so my initial thoughts were of him... I then thought of my mother... truly great posting!!

    Much love always,

    Temari

  2. It is really good. I LOVE it. It reminds me somewhat  of "Salmon Song" by Judi Armbruster. Although used by other poets, "I sing to your dreams" is a great line!

  3. What a tender tribute to a friend.  Fortunate are those that have a friend to last through the ages, as they "walk into older", and beyond.  This is delicate and poignant and has such depth of emotion.  There are some truly lovely lines and images throughout.  You must be a loyal and compassionate friend.  Thank you.

  4. great! i like this, another poem that has made me glad i bothered to read it!! have you got anymore?

  5. Well I hope you are not the same age as walkers may be needed!  This is said well, with much feeling conveyed.  Its a good one!

  6. Sweet and lovely, makes me feel safe! and safe is hard to come by these days.  Lovely poem.

  7. I like this poem's gentleness.  It has a tender touch.    'As you walk into older' is a great line.
