World Challenge: Day three roundup
On a wet and soggy day, Graeme McDowell saw his lead cut by a stroke at the Sherwood Golf and Country Club. It was a tough day out on the course for the players due to the overcast conditions.
Tiger Woods found it going difficult, as he carded another round of 69 on Saturday.
The round of the day was shot by Keegan Bradley, as he carded a five-under 67. It was not a bogey-free round, as he would have liked, and this left him just two shots behind the Irishman.
Graeme McDowell, meanwhile, continued to impress the spectators at the World Challenge. He carded a bogey-free four-under 68 in tough conditions and maintained his lead.
“I’m not sure how many times I’ve won from the front,” McDowell said. “Hopefully, I’ll add one tomorrow”.
The world number twenty-four has been a previous winner of the tournament, as he won the 2010 edition.
Tiger Woods could not get out of his shell, as he carded a second consecutive 69. He blamed the conditions a little, as he found it going tough, but this was very unlikely for the former world number one.
The world number three will now have to shoot an extremely good round probably somewhere between mid 60s to have any chance of winning this tournament a record sixth time.
“I’m going to have to shoot a low one tomorrow and see what happens,” Woods said.
One player apart from McDowell, who has impressed so far, is Bradley. Keegan seems to be answering his critics on the course by putting up an excellent show of golfing skills.
The world’s number fifteen for the time being has put the belly putter row behind him and has devoted his focus purely on golf.
“I played so poorly here last year, it just feels so good to be in the hunt, and I’m striking the ball as good as I can,” Bradley said. “A few putts go in tomorrow, I think I could have a good run at this”.
Bubba Watson also carded a five-under, as he shifted his gear on Saturday. After two disappointing rounds that saw him shoot a 71 and 74, the big hitter seems to have found his touch. He shot six birdies to take his 54-hole score to a four-under.
The world number ten, Brandt Snedeker, once again faltered as he carded another round above par. The FedEx Cup holder shot a one-over 73 on Saturday, and is one-over after 54-holes.
