World Champion Casey Stoner mourns death of Marco Simoncelli – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner, who recently became the 2011 MotoGP World Champion, condoled on the loss of Marco Simoncelli of the San Carlo Honda Gresini.
The Aussie was shocked to hear the news and deeply mourned Simoncelli’s death. The crash seemed to be severe but no one in the paddock thought that Super Sic would succumb to his injuries.
Stoner said, “When things like this happen it reminds you how precious life is, it makes me feel sick inside. All I can say is how sorry I am for Marco's whole family I can't imagine what they are all going through and our thoughts and wishes are with them
at this time.”
He was a valuable part of the Honda Racing Corporation. Super Sic had a charming personality on the track as well off it. He had a strong fan following which mourned his death.
Stoner expressed his pain to his family saying it is a tough moment for Simoncelli’s family. He hopes his friends and family recover from the trauma of his death.
HRC Executive Vice President, Shuhei Nakamoto was also sad on his death, which apparently felt Simoncelli would have sustained few fractures.
He also expressed his feeling for the Honda Gresini team boss Fausto Gresini, his team and everyone connected to him. His first two podium finishes were just a start of his achievements in his premier class career.
Nakamoto said, “I just don't know what to say; words escape me. Marco was a very nice guy and a very talented rider. Sometimes I was a little harsh with him, for example after his first MotoGP podium in Brno when I told him, 'Lucky podium!' and he was so
angry.”
After his first podium finish at Brno, Nakamoto motivated him to achieve more in a rather different way, which felt unpleasant.
Nakamoto claimed that he only wanted him to stay consistent on what he wanted to achieve in a disciplined manner. He also knew that Simoncelli was able to score higher than that and he proved it in Australia.
He also wished that he could have celebrated Simoncelli’s first race win together with him, which has now turned into an unrecoverable loss.
