World Class cyclist whatd speed do they average (MPH be easier) on a average flat track?

And whats the top speed anyones got on there bikes mines at a guess 37 MPH down this crazy hill.

  1. I've hit 39 mph on the flat (according to my speedo) but that was going round a velodrome. In Sprint events like the Keiren or Kilo time trial the top cyclists are hitting speeds of just under 50 mph at some points but they're averaging around 40. Professional road cyclists are averaging around 30 mph.

  3. In flat time trials, the pros can average 35 mph.

    The fastest I've ever been on a bicycle is 55 mph down the local "crazy hill" on a mountain bike, paved road. I was scared witless -- the wind was ripping the helmet off the top of my head. Since then, a more sane  downhill max is about 45 mph on a road bike.
