World Cup 2010: Spain v Honduras half time report
Spain 1 Honduras 0
A brilliant goal from David Villa was the highlight of the first half at Ellis Park; a half that the Spanish have dominated.
Cutting inside from the left after just 17 minutes, the Barcelona forward effortlessly evaded two Honduran defenders, before sidestepping a third, Osman Chávez, and stretching to hit a stunning right footed effort into the corner of the net.
Spain will be wondering how it’s only 1-0, with the returning Fernando Torres guilty of missing three good openings.
Villa hit the crossbar with a 30-yard shot early on, before Torres snatched at a left footed effort, headed over when well placed and smashed a shot high over the bar following an impressive run.
Perhaps he’s just getting his eye in though, and the second half promises more chances.
