First on the list is the mighty Wayne Rooney of England. At the age of 24, he has achieved 59 caps and 25 International goals. The man has been on fire throughout the season for Manchester United, and although he hasn't scored for England since September last year, he seems like a great contender in this years’ World Cup in 2010. His Castrol Ranking is set at 3 and his Titan Bet top scorer odds are 10/1.
Next comes the 32-year-old Didier Drogba of the Ivory Coast; with 66 Caps and 42 international goals; Five in his last three outings for Chelsea and 37 for the season to boot, Drogba is in magnificent form for the South African showpiece. His Castrol Ranking is at a 6 and his Titan Bet top scorer odds are 22/1.
Other contenders include the 26-year-old Fernando Torres from Spain, who has been struggling with an injury since the turn of the year but has managed nine goals in his last seven games for Liverpool. Nani from Portugal, with 6 international goals, played his way into the ‘Portugal starting XI’ after a terrific end to the season with Manchester United that saw him produce a number of eye-catching displays. Then there’s Steven Gerard of England, who showed glimpses of his talent against Mexico but must improve on his poor form at the club level in time for the South African journey.
Carlos Tevez from Argentina must be mentioned too. At the age of 26, he has gained 53 Caps and 10 international goals. He tailed off slightly towards the end of the season with Manchester City but scored during his latest appearance for Argentina. Lampard scored 11 goals from his last 10 Chelsea games and has hit top form at just the right time for England.
Cesc Fabregas of Spain, at the young age of 23, has gained 28 Caps and five international goals. An injury brought a premature end to what had been a fantastic season at Arsenal and he should pick up where he left off with this World Cup.
