World Cup Group B – Nigeria v South Korea

South Korea can book their place in the second round of the World Cup with a comfortable win over Nigeria this evening, but the Super Eagles could also progress with a win.

Both teams are relying on Greece to lose to Argentina in Group B’s other fixture, which would pave the way for either of them to take the all-important second spot.

Huh Jung-moo's side are bidding to reach the second round for the first time on foreign soil, and considering their performances in the two previous games, they go into the match as favourites.

South Korea followed up their impressive 2-0 win over Greece with a heavy 4-1 defeat to a rampant Argentina but Jung-moo is looking to put that defeat behind them.

"We are simply looking forward to progressing to the round of 16," he said.

"We left behind us the game against Argentina and our only focus is on beating Nigeria. My players are confident and are ready to play this important game. I believe in my players and I think we can do a good job. "

Nigeria have so far failed to shine although they had looked well placed against Greece in their second match when leading 1-0, but Sani Kaita got sent off at a crucial time and that effectively cost the Super Eagles' hopes of victory.

Before the tournament Nigeria coach Lars Largerback was confident that his side would make the last 16, and the Swede is still hopeful that his side can sneak through to the knock-out stages.

“Let's hope we can show that an African team can play well and get a result,” he said.

"It's going to be difficult. But this is a World Cup and every game is tough. I nevertheless believe we can win. I think the team has the right attitude. We have a really good team and I hope we can show it to the world tomorrow."

With the result a must-win for the Super Eagles, Lagerback may decide to play a more attack minded side against the Koreans, with legendary striker Kanu pushing for a start.

"I could make changes, everybody in the team wants to play this game,” he added.

"Kanu is in the picture and it's quite possible he could play tomorrow."
