World Domination ready to make a comeback – Horseracing News
World Domination is all set to make a comeback to the sport, as he has been confirmed for the Ambant Gala Stakes at Sandown in England on Friday.
Teddy Grimthorpe, manager of owner Khalid Abdullah, said in an interview, “World Domination has always been a horse Henry rated very highly. He's coming back from some time off, and has had some problems but never anything major.
His recent work has been good and this is very much a fact-finding mission about where we go next and how we play it.”
The five-year-old horse started off his career in 2011 and was highly impressive in his first ever outing. He was not rated as the favourite to succeed, but finished on top of the table by a comfortable margin. He did not allow
anyone else to come closer and that caught the attention of his rivals.
However, things did not continue working that way for the talented runner, as he started losing confidence with a few bad performances. He appeared in a couple of more races in his debut season, but failed to meet the expectations
of his team back then.
When World Domination returned to action in 2012, it was expected that he would be an improved runner and might cause some problems for his opponents in different races. This was not the case though, as his troubles continued and
he was not even able to finish in the top-three once after impressing on his debut.
Therefore, it was decided that the American horse should be allowed to rest for a while and train hard to have the confidence to represent his team at the highest level. He was last seen in action back in May in 2012, where he
finished in a disappointing sixth place overall. It will be interesting to see how well he performs in his comeback race.
On the other hand, Grimthorpe revealed some news about Excess Knowledge. He said, “After he won his maiden at Sandown he was second to Just The Judge, beaten a length, at Newbury. We ran him again (second-last in the Royal Lodge)
but he was still a bit backward at the end of his first year. John has given him some time and he seems to be progressing nicely.”
However, there was no confirmation about when Excess Knowledge would make an appearance in a competitive event.
