World Football News: Argentina vs. Brazil - Full Time, Lionel Messi the saviour La AlbiCeleste
With the second half kicking off there weren’t any changes seen from both the sides as managers from both ends were satisfied with the way their players were performing. The Argentineans were ready to kick off as they took their positions
on the field.
The Argentineans started the play by keeping the possession of the ball while the Brazilians were relying heavily on counter attacks. They did eventually make a breakthrough but Neymar was waved offside. Nonetheless, the Brazilians showed
the Argentineans that they can easily get away from their defensive lines to score goals.
The second half started off with a relatively slower pace as both the sides gave slow passes and not much urgency was seen from both the sides. However, the young Argentinean talent Javier Pastore got past Ramires as the Argentineans got
into a three on four situation but the Liverpool holding midfielder Lucas came up to defend the ball and did well therefore was hailed as the man of action in Brazil’s midfield.
The Brazilian number 10, Ronaldinho delivered two delightful crosses towards Neymar but Sergio Romero was ready to step up and take charge as he defended both the balls offensively. Soon, Ezequiel Lavezzi was replaced by Gonzalo Higuain
up front as Lionel Messi moved towards the centre of the pitch to help the team in the midfield while Lavezzi took his place up front as a striker.
With the inclusion of Lavezzi, there was certainly a little change in the speed of the game. Pastore, Lavezzi and Lionel Messi all showed the fans how quick they were and soon the Argentineans got a great opportunity to score a goal as
Mascherano’s cross was taken well by Javier Pastore who managed to his the arm of David Luiz inside the penalty area but the referee did not point towards the spot hence no penalty kicks for them.
Ronaldinho was being troublesome for the Argentineans and the Brazilian kept moving towards the centre of the pitch to help the team in the middle and Javier Mascherano was often seen tackling the former Barcelona man down. The Argentinean
talked the Milan man again and he was booked even though the referee tried to be lenient during the match.
There was a little surprise sitting in the stands as the camera rolled and saw two unlikely figures sitting and watching the game. The Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was seen sitting alongside the French legend Zinedine Zidane.
It was simply obvious the manager of the English team was there to scout a player but no one really knows why Zinedine Zidane was present there as well.
Javier Pastore was soon substituted for Andres D’Allessandro who took Pastore’s position in the midfield. The young Argentinean had a wonderful game and he did actually create a few chances for the team to score goals but he was simply
unlucky as he could not deliver the killer ball in the 18 yard box. He also gelled well with the Argentinean maestro Lionel Messi who was having an extra ordinary game as well.
On the other hand, Douglas Costa was the one who came on for the Brazilian legend Ronaldinho. The former Barcelona striker did a wonderful job on the left flank and performed extraordinary well even though the critics said that he has
lost his touch but he simply showed why he was named as player of the year once.
The young Brazilian striker Neymar was taken off for Andre during the 78th minute of the game and the fresh pair of legs were brought on to change the cause of the game as the 18-year-old Sao Paulo striker looked
to be tired before he left the field.
With players like Lionel Messi performing for his side, there was definitely some last minute action to come and it definitely did come as the Argentinean sensation and the best player in the world got the ball in the midfield and found
himself alone while making a run towards the goal. The Barcelona man made no mistake as he got past Lucas, David Luiz, Lucio and also Thiago Silva as he took a shot on goal from his favourite left foot and the Brazilian number 1 Victor had no way to stop the
ball from going inside the net as the Argentineans won the game 1-0 against the Brazilians.
It was Lionel Messi’s first win against the Brazilians and it was definitely a night for the best player on the planet to remember!
