World Football News: Capello says team will be built step by step as Van Der Vaart praises Harry Redknapp
After English national team’s woeful exit from the 2010 FIFA World Cup at the round of sixteen stages by the German national team, many people have been obsessed with the young German side and their style of play; something that English
fans will like to see their national side emulate in the future with their new young crop of players.
Capello recently held a press conference before his team’s friendly match against France. He said, "Germany built their team step by step. If we want to do the same, we have to put these players in the team two or three at a time, not
five or six. They need time to improve, to play with confidence and without fear. When I have done this with my club team some played very well immediately, others needed more time. But the value of these players is really big and we have to help them."
Kieran Gibbs has been introduced into the English national team setup along with Micah Richards and Phillip Jagielka. The young English defenders have been included in the English squad for their friendly match against French national
team.
Capello commented on the inclusion of these players as he said, "I hope the performance of these young players will be really good, but the fans have to understand that we could burn these players if it is not. We have to help them. When
they play in front of 90,000 people at Wembley, it is not the same as playing with the under-21s. The value of this game is different."
Capello also spoke about Andy Carroll; the English striker who plays for Newcastle has been included in the English national team squad for the first time in his career. Fabio remarked, "He brings something new. He runs a lot. He is fast.
When he receives the ball he plays one-touch, two touches maximum. His vision is really good all the time."
In other news, Rafael Van Der Vaart has come out and praised his club manager Harry Redknapp. Rafael made his move from Real Madrid to Tottenham in the summer for eight million pounds. Van Der Vaart told the media, "Harry is a very special
man, that's why I already feel at home at Spurs. It feels like I'm back on the street. There are no long and boring speeches about tactics, like I was used to at Real Madrid. There is a clipboard in our dressing room but Harry doesn't write anything on it."
The Dutch midfielder also went onto say that Tottenham’s team talks about team cohesion and coordination rather than tactics. He commented on the issue saying, "It's not that we do nothing - but it's close to that. For instance, last weekend
Gareth Bale scored a header against Blackburn from my corner. But we didn't train one minute on it, it was pure luck. Good kicking, good heading, nothing more. And our win at home over Champions League winners Inter Milan was a clear example of playing on
intuition. You can't train the goal I scored in that game."
