World Golf Hall of Fame launches fan poll via Facebook for first of its kind exhibition in March
PGA Tour, in continuation of several of their on-going programs for the improvement of the sport, have now launched a Facebook poll in connection with the latest World Golf Hall of Fame (WGHOF) Exhibition, scheduled in March this year.
The poll will be asking and tabulating the general public’s recommendation on various developments in the sport before the tour will hold the exhibition and will declare the winners, accordingly.
The poll will be conducted to ascertain spectator’s views over topics like "History in the Making," "Fore the Records," and "This Just In”.
Their subsequent votes for the proceedings of the events at the start of the year will fall in any three of these categories. The poll is now open and will last till January 27.
"This is an exciting new initiative for the World Golf Hall of Fame," said Hall of Fame Chief Operating Officer Jack Peter.
He went on, "We believe this promotion and exhibition will be a fun and unique way for fans to interact with the Museum. They will be able to watch something special happen on the course, then visit the Hall of Fame and see part of that history".
The WGHOF, as well as the WGHOF Museum, has been supporting golf events in several ways for the past few years and the latest exhibition also marks WGHOF’s support to the sport.
The exhibition will open in March where the fans will be entertained with a variety of events, including a glittering memorabilia from the Solheim Cup winning Captain Annika Sorenstam and her team, which lifted the coveted title in 2011.
Sorenstam is also a Hall of Famer and will be present throughout the exhibition.
The memorabilia will also include items and equipment used by the President’s Cup teams this year, which will be of particular importance for the fans of the sport.
This is for the first time that WGHOF has announced an exhibition on more organised grounds after they received enthusiastic response from their earlier bids to involve fans in the proceedings.
The museum has been receiving encouraging feedback from the past when it decided to present memorabilia from the 59's recorded by Paul Goydos and Stuart Appleby in 2010.
Also included was the 2010 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open’s winner Jonathan Byrd’s 6-iron and Patrick Cantlay’s 60 in 2011 Travellers Championship when he was playing on a Low Amateur status.
Many of the renowned World Golf Hall of Famers are also expected to visit the exhibition where the fans will get a chance to meet and talk to their idols up close and personal.
PGA Tour, in collaboration of WGHOF, has brought in many changes in the schedule and calendar of the events this year. They will be trying out different strategies to increase the fan input in the sport.
Fans who might be interested in the exhibition and the poll itself can log on to www.WorldGolfHallofFame.org while those who have access to Facebook can visit www.Facebook.com/GolfHallofFame and participate in the poll.
