World Golf Ranking: Wiesberger is on the 78th spot
Bernd Wiesberger is one of the top golfers in the world. He has been able to prove himself time and again. Wiesberger turned professional in the year 2006 and has achieved a great deal till now.
He has successfully bagged many professional wins - 2 on the European Tour, 1 on the Asian Tour and 2 on the Challenge Tour. He has not achieved any status in the majors till now but he is thought to have enormous amount of potential in him.
Wiesberger has recently risen 35 places in the world golf ranking. The Austrian professional golfer moved from the 113th position to the 78th. This is his career high ranking.
This was only possible after his amazing performance at Lyoness Open, which was held at his home ground, Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, Austria.
The new world 78 had a slow start. He just had one under par after the first day. He completely changed his game on the second day. He was a bit less aggressive and all the things were going right for him. In the second round, he managed to card six birdies,
which made his score six-under par.
Wiesberger managed to score six birdies on the third day as well. There was just one bogey throughout the day on the fourth hole. These made his score five-under par for the day and his total score became twelve-under par.
The last day was the best one for the 26-year-old. He carded two birdies and one bogey on the front nine. He had an amazing back nine. He carded six birdies only on the back nine of the last round.
These made his score seven-under par for the day and his total score surged to nineteen-under par. Wiesberger was three strokes ahead of the players who were tied second, Shane Lowry and Thomas Levet.
In the world golf ranking, Luke Donald is still on the top, Tiger Woods has occupied the second spot. Due to bad form and missing cuts, Rory McIlroy has fallen to the third spot and Lee Westwood is currently on the fourth spot in the world golf ranking.
