World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton on the top of the Power25 list again
The Academy of Wrestling Arts and Science unveiled the rankings for the week of May 28 to June 04. The World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton is again enjoying the top place in the 25 powerful superstars.
The Viper, Randy Orton, was put in a fight against the number one contender, Sheamus, during the Friday Night SmackDown on June 3. Sheamus qualified for the title shot on May 27, by defeating former World Champion, Christian and World’s Strongest Man, Mark
Henry, in a triple threat match. On June 3, Christian defeated Mark Henry and demanded his title shot again. The SmackDown General Manager, Theodore Long, did not give him the opportunity, but announced a title match between Sheamus and The Viper as the main
event of Friday Night SmackDown. Teddy also announced that Christian would be the special guest referee for that match.
The Viper amazingly took the victory in the match by hitting RKO to Sheamus while he was yelling at Christian. The victory took The Viper on the top of the Power 25 list. Though Viper was undefeated in the match, but he was pinned down by Christian. It seems
that Christian and Orton will face each other for World Heavyweight Championship at WWE pay-per-view event Capitol Punishment.
In last week’s ranking, The Viper was in the second place in the rankings. The Power 25 list was made as per fights at Over the limit, Friday Night SmackDown and Monday Night Raw that took place during the previous weeks. Orton defeated Christian at Over
the Limit on May 22, that took him to the second spot. The WWE Champion John Cena was on the top of the list because he won main event of Over the Limit.
The WWE Champion, John Cena defeated The Miz and his protégé, Alex Riley, in an 'I Quit Match'. Orton’s first place was dropped to second because John Cena was the participant of main event. Orton is the only WWE Superstar who has retained his top place
for a long time. He may as well be a long time number one ranked superstar.
