World History question please help?

Question

This artifact includes geoglyphs (shapes) & biomorphs (animals) on a very large scale. They are drawn in a desert plain that measures 37 miles in length & 1 mile wide.

Discovered by an aircraft in the 1930's, this artifact is very mysterious. It has been suggested that the lines could be used as landing pads for aliens, a series of religious shrines, or a way to study astronomy.

These are the Nazca drawings in Peru.  No serious archaeologists or historians thinks they are landing pads.  They seem to be drawings for religious reasons and perhaps some roads connecting a cultural center.  You can see plenty of images at google images.  They are fascinating.  Also look them up on wikipedia which will also have several good links to other sites.
