World Junior Championships: Arif Ramadhan beats Akira Koga to enter into Men’s Singles round-of-16
Indonesia’s Arif Ramadhan advances into Men’s Singles round-of-16 after beating Japan’s Akira Koga in the third round of the 2011 World Junior Championships, in Chinese Taipei, on Thursday, November 3.
The young Indonesian played wonderful game in the match and won it after working hard for three games. He consumed 51 minutes of hard labour in the court and won the match with a tight margin in the end.
The Indonesian displayed top class game in the first set and took it with a tight score. However, he lost the second set with a narrow margin after a tough fight. In the final game, Ramadhan played to his full potential in the final phase of the game and won it with a tight margin.
The match started in a fast was as both shuttlers kept the pace high and played attacking game. They missed no chance to hit the bird hard down to the ground to warn points. However, no one could manage to take the lead until the final points of the match. The Indonesian delivered a smart play at this stage and won the set with a close margin of 21-19.
In the second set of the match, the speed remained the same as both contestants continued playing at the same speed with a touch of aggression. The progressed in the game closely and entered into the final phase of the game.
The Japanese shuttler remained positive this time in the end, whereas Ramadhan made a few mistakes and lost the game with a dramatic score of 21-23.
In the final set, both shuttlers grabbed the interest of the local fans by playing tremendous game. The Indonesian was quicker in hitting the bird extremely hard by taking it quite early in the rear-court area, while his opponent was playing impressive game at the net.
The score was tight in the ending phase of the deciding game when the Indonesian geared up his speed and scored the winning point to make it a 21-19 win. The overall score of this thrilling contest was 21-19- 21-23 and 21-19.
