World Light Welterweight champion Amir Khan unsure of beating Floyd Mayweather – Boxing news
The current unified International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association World Light Welterweight Champion Amir Khan is not convinced that he can beat the five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather at this point of time.
The Bolton’s finest pugilist, Khan, who recently secured a knockout win over former five-time world champion Zab ‘Super’ Judah in the fifth round to claim the IBF title, has only one more fight before he moves up to the 147lbs division and people want him
to take on Mayweather there.
However Khan, who has won 26 of his 27 professional fights including 18 by the way of a knockout, reckons it would be a bit too early for him to take on Mayweather, who is the current World Boxing Council Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion.
The 24-year-old Khan told the media he needs a lot of improvement before he goes on against one of the boxing’s best. Khan stated he will spend time with Khan’s trainer Freddie Roach watching his videos so that he covers up all of his mistakes.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “There are a lot of little improvements that we need to make. Maybe slowing down a little bit, not making mistakes, and maybe cleaning up the defence and not lunging in with big shots. I'm just going to sit down
with Freddie [Roach] and with the tapes and he'll tell me what I did right, and what I did wrong.”
Though Khan in the end claimed he is in the same class as of Mayweather, the Brit remarked he needs to be 100 percent fit before taking on the undefeated American combatant, Floyd Mayweather.
Khan remarked, “I want to be 100% ready and 100% confident and I want to walk in to the fight and be 100% sure that I can beat him. Right now it's a 50-50 fight in my mind that I can beat him but I want to be 100% sure.”
