  1. -As long as conservatives and extremists are world leaders, no. Israel's government is extremist, killing innocent Palestinian children, then small militant groups are created to defend those children against the agressors...

-US wages wars against countries for political reasons with propaganda to the American public... They just have religious appeals to Americans... Who knows how much money Bush and his friends are making over the weapons factories... If wars stop, they'll bankrupt.

    - North Korea and communists are extremists... They'll do anything to compete militarily with the West...

    - Iran, Saudi Arabia, those countries are extremists, but they don't threaten world security. Only their public can change the governmetn when they can. It's not West's job to interfere with that.. US and allies just use excuses to stop let's say Iran to have nuclear technology. Because they want every single country to be needy toward them so that they can control everything in the world.

  2. World is secured except mankind.

  3. nope

  4. Apparently not.

I know the whole insecurity is painted as terrorists and the like, but I would like to see the United State and China and those countries do their bit as well (a.k.a. stop interfering with other countries' legitimate business, learn to NEGOTIATE instead of drop bombs, downsize your military force and its presence around the globe, get out of your pipedream that you are World Police coz you aren't and do more harm than good, etc.).

The Israel-Palestine problem is just complete S**t through and through. That is a prime example of humanity unable to cooperate, unable to negotiate, unable to accept each other. "But he took my land!" yeah keep carrying on like children.

Lets hope we can all get along one day. It will have to be a joint effort.

  5. I certainly would hope so. But natural disasters, poverty, inequity, wars and terrorism makes our future rather dubious. Every country in the world should cooperate in order to stop crimes, social injustice and violence against both humanity and nature.

But when I say cooperate I don't mean that Earth should be united in one union, as the saying goes: "you should be able to work together with your neighbor without having to marry her", instead there should be international agreements regulating relations between agencies in one country and another.

Cooperation is the key, but indeed also the issue. Do you thing Robert Mugabe, for instance, would agree in freedom of speech for his political opponents?

  6. Can there be World Security?

No, not until the United Nations organization is strengthened and reformed!

I liked Grrr's answer: Yes, natural disasters, poverty, inequity, wars and "terrorism" makes our future rather dubious. And of course people like Mugabe do.

I would add, also the 'inherent nature of the nation state'. Their interests are self-interest, and they're not willing to cooperate for the common good if it might adversly affect their own people in any way.

Poverty, for example could be eliminated if rich nations were willing to share - and possibly hold off on increases in their prosperity for a while. They needn't get worse by sharing, just forego added GNP and provide this to the poor countries. This is not likely to happen because people are too greedy. The more they have, the more they want.

Grrr mentioned terrorism, (which I put in quotes). I'm sure that was on your mind when you posed the question. But what is the caurse of terrorism? People don't terrorize because they just want to hurt people, they do it to bring attention to the perceived horrors that are inflicted on them. Getting to the root caurses might help, but the perpetrating states will not budge.

Eventually, nation states will have to give up some of their power to a reformed UN, who wil be truly reponsible for world security, and some aspects of foreign policy. States can keep everthing else to themselves. This will probably be acheived by adopting treaties, with teeth, such that even US would have to conform.

As individuals, the more we can do to support the United Nations, and press for reform and efficency, the better. The UN has many aspects and divisions, so it is up to us the learn about these, (and the UN MDG's), and loby to make specifice improvements. If we just leave it to the present big actors, Security will probably get worse, not better.
